DAS Audio hold practical workshop in Singapore

25 March 2009

D.A.S. Audio recently held a training session in Singapore, delivered by D.A.S. Audio engineer, Joan La Roda, alongside D.A.S. Audio technical representative in Asia, Ron Koh.

The session took place on February 20th at Fort Canning Park in Singapore, a landmark for live concerts that has recently seen the likes of Manic Street Preachers, The Ting Tings, The Beastie Boys and Incubus, and which is home to SINGFEST – the Singapore Music Festival – featuring acts including Travis, Simple Plan and Alicia Keys.

The event was organized by D.A.S. Audio’s Singapore team in full and, as D.A.S. Audio Asia operations manager, Eduardo López, explains: “It was basically a practical demonstration of the Aero 38 line array system, to allow the local clients to hear the system for the first time. In addition to the demo, there was a workshop where attendees could see how the unit was flown and interact with Joan by directly asking him questions at the end”.

D.A.S. Audio Asia teamed up with “CSP Productions”, a leading live event management company in Singapore which has worked with Sting, Eric Clapton, Linking Park, Maroon 5, The Police, etc. They were in charge of assembling the structure to fly the enclosures, as well as managing the cabling and setting up the entire system. “Moreover – continues Eduardo López - XTA distributors in Singapore, “Coda Audio”, contributed to the running of the workshop by lending us one of their XTA processors. We also had some students from SAE Institute Singapore to lend a helping hand flying the system and take part in a live professional event”.

Consequently, the session was clearly practical and was attended by the distributors of the Valencia-based company, who brought their clients along. Potential clients in Singapore, such as rental companies, system integrators and audio consultants, were also invited to attend. The event was a great success as all attendees were really pleased with the performance of the Aero 38 line array sound system, which was unprecedented in Singapore. López states that “This kind of event undoubtedly make prospects in the Asia-Pacific region more likely to choose Aero line array systems once they have heard how good they sound and seen the systems for themselves, after working shoulder to shoulder with D.A.S. technicians and engineers”.

Ron Koh talks about the reactions from some of the attendees: "The Aero 38 line array flying system was a winner among the participants for their quick and easy assembly, thanks to the clear instructions of use available. Besides, the part where we worked with the Ease Focus program was highly popular as we could accurately demonstrate how to set the angles for optimum coverage of the whole area and show the potential of the Aero system". He also claims that "The audience was impressed with the clarity of the sound and the dynamics of the system. The SLA amplifier series was particularly successful, thanks to its light weight and the portability of the system”.
