CUK Audio to Distribute Powersoft

8 April 2009

Powersoft is pleased to announce the appointment of CUK Audio as the UK mainland distributor for its range of professional audio products, effective immediately.

Established in 1995 and based in Firenze, Italy, Powersoft is one of Europe's market leaders in power amplification design and manufacture. The company’s range of digital amplifiers has expanded to provide bespoke solutions for cinemas, public address systems, touring acts, permanent installations and portable sound requirements. Two or four channel amplifiers are available for virtually all power and impedance requirements, providing up to 9000W per channel, while taking up only 1U of rack space. The company is pleased to count Clair Brothers, Audio Rent, ATK, and Maryland Sound Industries amongst its thousands of users.

Glasgow based CUK Audio was started by MD Stuart Thomson in 2005, and has grown rapidly to become one of the UK’s leading pro audio distributors. It exclusively represents Audica Professional, Community Professional Loudspeakers, DIS Danish Interpretation Systems, Digigram, InOut Digital and MTSi Media Technology Systems in the UK. At PLASA 2008, CUK surprised many and created serious interest with its announcement that it was expanding to distribute three further major international brands; Clair Brothers, Sabine and Work.

“With our focus on being a complete solution provider we were still looking for one core element”, commented Thomson, “We needed a premium amplifier brand with advanced design, future technology and a proven track record. With Powersoft we have that, and more, and it completes our comprehensive amplification portfolio in the same way that we have with loudspeakers”.

The appointment was made by co-owner of Powersoft, Carlo Lastrucci, and Audio Division Sales Manager, Luca Giorgi. “We are very pleased to welcome CUK Audio as a distributor for Powersoft”, said Giorgi. “The UK is a key market with international influence and we believe that CUK offer the right balance of service and technical expertise to do an excellent job. In addition to this we believe that within a more focused product portfolio we will have a better penetration in the market. We are looking forward to supporting them and enjoying a good long-term relationship”.

CUK Audio will distribute Powersoft immediately, including the existing line-up and the new products announced by Powersoft at ProLight+Sound in Frankfurt earlier this month. These include the new Duecanali 3904 (2 x 1,950W @ 4 Ohm) and Duecanali 5204 (2 x 2,600W @ 4 Ohm), which incorporate Powersoft’s legendary patented universal switch mode power supply with power factor correction.

Also new is D-Cell; the first Powersoft amplifier modules to be available as a complete package for aftermarket applications. These modules use the same Class D technology and have PFC like the rack mount amplifiers, typically more than 90% efficient, compact, load monitoring and optional DSP module, for applications including Pro Audio, Installed Systems, Hi-Fi and Studio Monitoring.

Powersoft’s K-Light amplifier platform has also been expanded with the introduction of the K2. In the same format as its bigger brother, the K3, it has all of the same features but only 1,950W into 4 Ohm. The K2 can be upgraded to a K3 via the smart card reader by purchasing a power upgrade at a later stage if required.
