PLM Flexes muscles Down Under for ACP in Brisbane

31 July 2009

(Australia) - Australian Concert Productions Pty Ltd (APC) is one of the largest suppliers of audio and lighting equipment in Australia. Their thriving rental division has just invested in a significant Turbosound FlexArray rig powered exclusively by Lab.gruppen’s new PLM Powered Loudspeaker Management systems with on-board Lake Processing.

The new Turbo/Lab.gruppen system was put through its paces at a number of shows, and “ticked all the boxes” with the ACP team as well as receiving very favorable comments from several FoH engineers. “The guys were impressed by stunning audio quality as well as the coverage we achieved with the system,” remarked ACP’s Director, Mick Privitera. “They also really appreciated how easy and straightforward it was to rig and configure.” The first show was an outdoor festival for 6000 people featuring a number of top acts including Eskimo Joe, Faker, Bliss n Eso and The Potbelleez.

The full system comprises 16 x TFA-600H FlexArray elements, 16 x TSW-218 dual 18” subwoofers, Flex flybars, ground-stack bars and flight cases in addition to 8 x Lab.gruppen PLM Series devices spread across two racks. This enables the system to be split into two for smaller shows, or used with a rack per side at larger events. ACP has both the 4-channel PLM 10000Qs (4 x 2300 W at 4 ohms) for the Flex elements, and the heavyweight PLM 14000s (2 x 7000 W at 2 ohms) to power the subs. A key feature of the Lab.gruppen PLM systems is the integrated Lake Processing which enables complete system configuration and control which is accessible via a front panel preset, or from a Tablet PC which also gives full control.

“We are all really impressed by the system as a whole,” added Mick. “It’s incredibly clean yet loud, and now we’ve got a set up that can be used for anything from small corporate shows and pub gigs to large festivals and entertainment centers. The FlexArray is a great rig in itself, but the PLMs have really helped us to optimize it to the max. They seem to have endless power, and the fact that we can easily recall different system configurations greatly reduces the time taken to prep a system. We’re delighted with our decision to purchase the Turbosound/Lab.gruppen combination and are looking forward to using it at some major events over the coming months.”

The system was supplied by Hills SVL, the Australian distributor for Lab.gruppen and Turbosound.
